Mission
At Rooted in Words, we believe that healing begins when we find the words to express what we carry inside. Our mission is to create welcoming and supportive spaces where women and girls can explore the power of poetry and creative writing to express their emotions, reclaim their voices, and rediscover their strength.
Through poetry, guided writing, and meaningful discussions, we encourage self-reflection, build confidence, and inspire personal growth. We believe every woman and girl has a story worth telling and that words can open doors to healing, education, and new possibilities.
While we cannot always change our stories, we can reclaim the power to write the next chapter.

What We Do
Rooted in Words offers poetry and creative writing workshops that encourage women and girls to express their emotions, reflect on their experiences, and rediscover their voices. Through poetry readings, journaling, and guided writing activities, we create supportive spaces for self-expression, confidence-building, and personal growth.

Who We Serve
Rooted in Words serves women and girls facing life's challenges, including homelessness, domestic violence, grief, family separation, and foster care. We partner with shelters, transitional housing programs, and community organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to bring poetry and creative writing directly to those we serve.
We believe every woman and girl deserves a space where her voice is heard, her experiences are valued, and her circumstances do not define her future.

Why Rooted in Words Was Created
Rooted in Words was inspired by my personal journey and the comfort I found through poetry and creative writing during difficult times. I discovered that putting emotions into words can provide a sense of release, clarity, and renewed strength.
I created Rooted in Words to share that experience with others, offering women and girls a space to express themselves, find encouragement, and discover the power of their own words.
Vision
Our vision is to build a community where every woman and girl has access to the power of poetry and creative writing as a pathway to healing, self-discovery, and empowerment. We envision a future where life's hardships do not silence voices or limit possibilities, but where words become a source of strength, confidence, and hope.
Through partnerships with shelters, community organizations, and educational institutions, we aspire to create lasting opportunities for women and girls to express themselves, pursue education, discover their potential, and write new chapters in their lives.
